Barrier-Free Space: Modern Approaches to Inclusive Design

02.02.2026

Alina Ovchenko, a specialist at the “ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Without Limits” Accessibility Service, participated in an event dedicated to modern approaches to architectural planning and the creation of a barrier-free environment that accommodates the needs of persons with disabilities.

Modern infrastructural solutions serve as a key tool for enhancing the educational environment, ensuring facility accessibility for all participants in the educational process, and establishing a foundation of equal opportunities.

The theoretical and practical modules covered core principles of spatial organization in compliance with the requirements of DBN V.2.2-40:2018 “Buildings and Structures. Inclusivity of Buildings and Structures,” solutions for ensuring physical accessibility, and structural components of physical barrier-free spaces.

Participants reviewed fundamental principles of spatial and service inclusivity, examples of universal design and reasonable accommodation, as well as the updated State Standard for the Social Service of Supported Living for the Elderly and Persons with Disabilities.

The practical module included accessibility audits of facilities to assess their compliance with established standards.

Participation in such events contributes to the implementation of modern inclusive solutions across the university campus, supports the principles of equal opportunity and social responsibility, and reinforces ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ’s image as a progressive higher education institution focused on the needs of every individual.
